Spirasi is the National Centre for the Rehabilitation of Survivors of Torture in Ireland. We are recruiting for a skilled, values-driven Psychosocial officer to play a key role in delivering rehabilitative services as part of our Psychosocial and wider Clinical teams. The person will be fully committed to the vision and mission of Spirasi.
Person Specification
Essential Requirements:
- Relevant third level qualification in social care / social work
- Demonstrated ability to work well both in a professional multi-disciplinary team and independently.
- Evidence of effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated experience of working with a culturally and linguistically diverse population of migrants/forced migrants, in addition to experience of working with international protection applicants (IP) and refugees.
- Detailed knowledge of Irish health, education, social welfare, housing and legal systems as it relates to those seeking and having received international protection in the Irish State.
- High level of demonstrated competence in representing and advocating on behalf of Spirasi’s client-base within the framework of both statutory and non-statutory organisations.
- Clear understanding of the importance of self-care and the essential ability to observe clear boundaries in working with vulnerable migrants.
- Proficient in IT and standard software packages.
- Ability to speak and write English to IELTS Level 8.
- A demonstrated commitment to social justice and equality.
- Demonstrated competence in working in a trauma-informed framework in addition to being able to provide practical support and psychological first aid to clients, as required.
- Adherence to our Safeguarding Policies and procedures.
Desirable:
- Proficiency in additional languages.
- Clinical background and experience
- Experience of working with Salesforce / CRM systems
- Experience of working with groups and delivering group interventions.
- Experience of providing support to families.

Start Date: Immediate (pending Garda Vetting clearance and pre-employment checks)
Remuneration: Salary €36,000 per annum (salary is non-negotiable)
Contract: Fixed term to 31st October 2025
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
Hybrid Model: Work remotely and in the office (must be available for minimum 2 days per week on site in Dublin 7). Some travel within Dublin for outreach work is expected.
